New Mexico Action Coalition

The NEW MEXICO ACTION COALITION (NMAC) is part of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, a nationwide movement to leverage nursing strengths and leadership to help improve health and health care.

The Campaign includes 51 Action Coalitions working to implement the recommendations from the landmark Institute of Medicine (IOM) report: The Future of Nursing: Leading Change,

The objective of the NMAC is to advance the Campaign focus in the Building of a Culture of Health for New Mexico.  The drivers in this endeavor are:
    • Making health a shared value
    • Fostering cross-sector collaboration to improve well-being
    • Creating healthier, more equitable communities
    • Strengthening integration of health services and systems

The New Mexico Action Coalition (NMAC) is a statewide partnership of nurses, state government agencies, local business, and consumer stakeholders that are committed to improve health and promote health equity.

Our goal is to cultivate the overall health of New Mexicans by convening interested parties and facilitating discussion and collaborations that bridge statewide efforts. The NMAC is composed of over 85 members representing 30 organizations.

Our mission strives to provide strategic direction through community collaboration and grassroots efforts with key stakeholders to transform the health of New Mexico.

Our activities in New Mexico will focus on these four pillars in building a Culture of Health in our state:

    1) Promote healthy living / health careers for children and youth.
    2) Facilitate and support community health opportunities.
    3) Identify and connect resources to address the social determinants of health and physiological needs.
    4) Develop nurse management / leadership training that will prepare nurses for leadership roles both in their organizations and in their communities.
