2018 New Mexico Nursing Excellence Awards

The 14th edition of the NEA is in the books - and it was a great success!
Over 700 people celebrated this year's 217 nominees as well as the 2018 Honorees.

Here is a list of the 21 recipients of 2018 New Mexico Nursing Excellence Awards!

In addition, these distinguished retired nurses were honored as Nursing Legends:

  • Elaine Brightwater
  • Amanda (Sam) Conley
  • Patricia (Pat) Hurst
  • Elizabeth (Betty) Mascarenas
  • Patricia (Patsy) Nelson

We also awarded the  Friend of Nursing award to Dr. Katharine Winograd of the Central New Mexico Community College.

10th Annual New Mexico Nursing Educators Conference

Nursing Education and the Resurgence of Primary Care Nursing:
Expanding the Role of the Registered Nurse

We are pleased that we had 122 nurses from around the state join us for these two days of great presentations and wonderful discussions.

2018 Nightingale Nursing Scholarships

Please join us in congratulating the 20 recipients of 2018 Nightingale Scholarships!  Here are the names of these scholars. ad here are some pictures of this year's happy scholarship recipients!

These deserving nursing students each received $1,000 towards their goal of attaining their nursing degree.  We wish to thank the New Mexico Board of Nursing for a Nurse Excellence Fund grant that made these scholarships possible.

  • Last November  Dr. Betty Rambur joined us to address the ever-changing landscape of healthcare reform.  She also told us the importance of having nurses on boards.
  • in March we awarded 20 Nightingale Scholarships to nursing students throughout NM earning nursing degrees at all levels.
  • On June 11 & 12, we hosted our 10th annual Nursing Educators Conference, Nursing Education and the Resurgence of Primary Care Nursing: Expanding the Role of the Registered Nurse.  See presentations here.
