Dr. Jean Giddens, PhD, RN, FAAN, Dean and Professor
School of Nursing, Virginia Commonwealth University 

Recent publications include:

“Concepts for Nursing Practice”


Dr. Jean Giddens is Dean and Professor at the School of Nursing,
Virginia Commonwealth University in 
Richmond, VA, and is a
Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow Alumna.
Previous to this, she served in senior administrative leadership at the
University of New Mexico College of Nursing.

Dr. Giddens has a wide range of teaching experiences that include associate degree,
baccalaureate degree, and graduate degree programs in
New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Virginia.
She is an expert in concept-based curriculum development and evaluation as well as
innovative strategies for teaching and learning.

 

Workshop Content: 
• Overview and benefits of the conceptual approach
• NMNEC curriculum
• A deeper understanding of conceptual teaching & learning
